I got into triathlon by accident after a friend asked me to race with them. I loved the training and the entire (almost) race day. Since then I've become more dedicated to the sport and it is my main focus (aside from skiing during the winter). I finished an Ironman in '15 and it was an awesome and humbling experience. I left it all on the race course but I know I can post a better time with training, nutrition and some better luck with weather. 140.6 was something I had always thought about doing, but the reality came after finishing my first half that I realized the next year it could become a reality.
I spent this past season dealing with a knee issue that is being treated currently. I come back to next season ready to roll and looking for an even more dialed in training plan.
My family tells me I burn the candle on both ends and that's something I've come to accept. I'm a VMI graduate and have had the privilege of racing with fellow Keydets my last few races. In addition to my career, in the winter I'm a ski patroller/EMT and serious skier who enjoys skiing powder as much as racing. I'm at home in the mountains and enjoy spending time outside. None of this would be possible without my awesome wife who is a constant source of support, my race day sherpa and best friend. Although she does complain that I suffer from a terminal case of FOMO and I should "consider taking a day off 'someday.'"
I'm excited, honored and completely stoked to be part of the Baucco Squad this year, see you on the race course!
